What a Federal Firearms License is
A Federal Firearms License (FFL) is a license issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives that allows a business to engage in the firearms business at a specific licensed premises. Licensees are subject to recordkeeping requirements and to inspection by the licensing authority.

Why licensing matters when you sell a firearm
Many websites offering to buy firearms are lead brokers that never take possession of anything. Selling to a licensed business means the firearm is received and recorded at a licensed premises by a business that is accountable for how the transaction is handled.
Interstate transactions
Firearm transactions that cross state lines are subject to federal requirements, and shipping generally must be arranged between appropriately licensed parties or otherwise in accordance with applicable law and carrier policy. We provide written instructions for your specific situation after an offer is accepted.
Receiving firearms
Firearms sent to us are received at the licensed premises, logged in as required, and then inspected against the description provided. Nothing should be shipped before you have received written instructions from us.
Seller responsibilities
Sellers are responsible for confirming that they may lawfully sell or transfer the firearm, describing it accurately, and following the shipping or transfer instructions provided. If a firearm is part of an estate, the person handling the estate should confirm their authority to sell before a transaction proceeds.
This page describes how we operate. It is general information about our licensing and process, not legal advice. For advice about your specific circumstances, consult a qualified attorney.
How transactions are handled
Transactions are handled in accordance with applicable federal, state and local requirements. Firearms received are logged in as required, inspected, and processed through the licensed premises.
We will not ask you to ship a firearm before an offer has been accepted and written instructions have been issued. If anyone asks you to do otherwise, stop and call us at 214-897-5800.
What we do not claim
Compliance language should be factual. We do not claim a perfect compliance record, guaranteed legal outcomes, or anything else that cannot be verified. We state what our license is, where it is held, and how transactions are handled.
